Able Women & Rokbar
Thirty Six Foods has partnered with the Able Women Multipurpose Cooperative in Cross-River State and Rokbar to bring high quality and sustainable chocolate to market both in Nigeria and The Netherlands. We are creating a chocolate bar fully made by women and produced in Nigeria. Our partnership aims to empower female cocoa farmers through access to specialty cocoa markets.
We first met the Able Women in 2016 and were inspired by their story. Over time, we have purchased some of their cocoa and fell in love with the natural fruity flavour. We have now put in place fermentation and drying infrastructure that will allow the cooperative to produce premium quality cocoa. In 2019, we will pre-launch fully made-by-women bean-to-bar chocolate in Nigeria, and in 2020 this will be introduced to The Netherlands by Rokbar.
